Ahead of Yom Kippur, and at the direction of IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, the IDF is bolstering its forces across all fronts. The security preparations include reinforcements for the regional commands, increased readiness in the Air Force and Navy, and an expanded reserve force that can be activated during the holiday.

The IDF noted that the forces assigned as part of these preparations will be added to the forces already deployed in each sector. This will expand the operational presence beyond the existing deployment, alongside the establishment of alert levels and a command duty roster for the holiday.

The directive calls for adding dedicated companies to the regional commands. The Air Force will raise its alert level, and the Navy will expand its presence. A senior commander will be stationed in each sector throughout the holiday. As part of the preparations, the Northern Command, Southern Command, and Central Command sectors will be reinforced.

The Air Force will operate at heightened alert during Yom Kippur. As part of this, a larger number of armed aircraft will be available, expanding operational readiness for the holiday. The Navy will also broaden its deployment: the number of missile ships at sea will increase, while the fleet of vessels responsible for routine security missions along the maritime borders will also be reinforced. The Home Front Command will bolster its forces as well.
