Report: Trump Halts Yemen Strike, Warns Iran

Fox News reported today (Monday) that the U.S. president spoke with one of its correspondents and, addressing the situation with Iran, said: "I am in a state of 'decision-making.' 'Very big things' are about to happen in the near future regarding the Iran-U.S. war."

Trump added: "The question is whether and when to blow everything up? They had better behave nicely. But I am open to meeting with Iran's president."

As previously reported, Iran sent, through Qatar, a list of conditions several days ago for ending the war and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranians are demanding the lifting of the naval blockade on their seaports, a U.S. announcement ending the war, and the cancellation of sanctions.

In his conversation with Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst, President Trump said: "There are three options: eliminate Iran, let them rot economically, or make a deal."

Yemen Strike Halted

The New York Times reported this evening that Trump halted a planned American strike against the Houthis in Yemen. According to the report, the president spent two weeks weighing whether to order the U.S. military to attack Houthi targets. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman urged him to intervene, and the president instructed the Pentagon to prepare for airstrikes. Yesterday, the president decided to cancel the strikes.

Meanwhile, Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthi rebels in Yemen, said that Saudi Arabia had escalated its attacks. According to him, "The Saudi enemy attacked the provinces of Al-Jawf, Taiz, Saada, and Marib with 157 airstrikes and missile attacks. The strikes were carried out by F-15 and 'Typhoon' fighter jets that took off from the Khamis Mushait and Taif bases, alongside missile launches from the Najran and Jizan areas." Saree threatened that "this grave aggression will not go unanswered."
