Rockets, Mortars and Kalashnikovs: What the IDF Found and Destroyed in Syria

After three months of operations in the forward security zone in Syria, forces from the 228th Brigade Combat Team have completed their mission in the area. The forces, operating under the command of Division 210, spent this period locating and removing threats to the State of Israel.  

During the operation, the forces carried out a series of targeted missions across the area. As part of these operations, dozens of suspects were questioned, and several operatives were detained. At the same time, the troops located and destroyed terrorist infrastructure and dozens of weapons found in the area.

Among the weapons found during the three months of operations were RPG rockets, mortar bombs, and Kalashnikov rifles. The IDF said the activity in the area was intended to remove threats facing Israel and strengthen defense along the border.

The completion of the mission in Syria comes alongside the end of the fifth reserve-duty rotation for the 228th Brigade Combat Team. Following the extended period of activity, the forces will complete their mission in the coming days, and troops from the 2nd Brigade will take their place in the area.

Despite the rotation of forces, military activity in the area will continue. The IDF made clear that "Division 210 forces will continue operating in the area in order to protect the security of the citizens of the State of Israel, and the residents of the Golan Heights in particular."

Alongside the announcement, the IDF released footage from the 228th Brigade Combat Team's operations in the security zone in Syria, as well as photographs of the weapons found during the operation.
