Remembering Israel’s Fallen Heroes Through Tefillin
Three years after October 7, the “Lanetzeach Achi” initiative is transforming remembrance into mitzvot by establishing personal tefillin stations in memory of fallen soldiers across Israel

Today marks three years since that day.
It was Simchat Torah. We went to sleep expecting joyful hakafot, dancing with the Torah scrolls, and children riding on their parents’ shoulders. Then, before we had even fully opened our eyes, we woke to sirens. The reports came next, followed by complete shock.
That day, we understood that we were at war. The Swords of Iron War had begun, and within just a few days, 295,000 reservists were called up to join the standing army. Young men and fathers got up from the table, put on their uniforms, and left. No one asked whether it was convenient for them. They simply went, because “our brothers, the entire House of Israel” were in distress and captivity.
Behind Every Number Is an Entire World
Nine hundred and seventy heroic soldiers did not return.
Think about that for a moment. Nine hundred and seventy times, the chilling words “cleared for publication” pierced the air and shattered the worlds of entire families. Behind every number in this painful statistic lies an entire world.
These are our children, our brothers, our friends from reserve duty. People who laughed, loved, and made plans for the future, and in a single moment, it was all cut short.
After everything that has happened, we cannot remain indifferent. We cannot stop at pain and grief. How can we make sure that the name, face, and life story of each one of them remain present even after the headlines have changed?
The “Lanetzeach Achi” Initiative
From that question, the “Lanetzeach Achi” initiative was born, commemorating our fallen heroes by establishing personal tefillin stations in their memory.
A unique tefillin station will be created for each fallen hero, HY”D, bearing his name, photograph, date of death, and a meaningful quote that was close to his heart.
The tefillin stations dedicated in memory of these heroes will be placed in central locations throughout Israel, hosted by local businesses, allowing dozens of Jews to put on tefillin each day.
Every time someone puts on tefillin and every prayer recited at these stations will be dedicated as a merit for the souls of the fallen.
