President Donald Trump announced today (Sunday) that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to an "energy ceasefire," under which both countries are expected to halt attacks on each other's energy infrastructure.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, "Both sides have agreed. Don't break the ceasefire."

The announcement follows Trump's demand that Ukraine unilaterally stop attacking Russian oil refineries. On Saturday, Trump blamed Ukrainian strikes for rising diesel prices in the United States and called for the replacement of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, claiming he had missed opportunities to reach an agreement with Moscow.

Earlier Sunday, Zelenskyy said Ukraine was prepared to halt attacks on Russian oil facilities, provided Moscow stopped targeting Ukraine's electricity and energy infrastructure. He emphasized that any such agreement would require "real guarantees."

"The real cause of the war in Europe is Russia, and Russia alone," Zelenskyy said, adding that attacks on energy facilities could stop as early as Sunday, but that Russian President Vladimir Putin was not interested in such an arrangement.
