Iran Mocks Trump’s Election Defeat, Threatens Missile Strikes on U.S. Bases in Europe

Trump (archive photo: Liri Agami, Flash90)Following the crushing defeat suffered by U.S. President Donald Trump and the Republican Party in Wednesday’s midterm elections, senior Iranian officials mocked the American president, portraying the results as a consequence of his administration’s confrontation with Iran.
Ali Nikzad, deputy speaker of Iran’s parliament, described Trump’s electoral setback as evidence of his failure against the Iranian people. “Trump’s defeat in the U.S. elections is one of the consequences of his failure against the Iranian nation,” Nikzad wrote. “The American president, who is lost in his delusions and attempts to achieve victory through rhetoric on social media, has also failed in his domestic policies.”
Nikzad further declared that the Strait of Hormuz had become a symbol of Iranian strength and a place where Washington’s strategic calculations had failed. “We defeated him. Any new adventure against Iran will be met with a crushing response. The enemy must understand that its dream of defeating Iran will be buried,” he warned. Addressing the United States directly, he added, “Return to your country, or you will be forced to flee in humiliation and disgrace.”
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also responded to the election results on X after Democrats reportedly secured a majority in the Senate, dealing Trump a major political blow. “Whether out of conscience or concern over the cost of living, Americans said no to war, and we support that message,” Ghalibaf wrote. “If the U.S. administration betrays the will of its people to serve international interests, it will learn that our ‘no’ comes with a nightmare.”
Hassan Qashqavi, spokesperson for the Iranian parliament’s National Security Committee, similarly ridiculed Trump’s political influence. “Once again, it has become clear that Trump’s protective umbrella is full of holes when the storm and rain are at their worst, and everyone who relies on it ends up soaked,” he wrote. Referring to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, and candidates Trump supported in the U.S. congressional elections, Qashqavi argued that all had suffered political setbacks despite their association with the American president.
Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of the Iranian parliament’s National Security Committee, characterized the Republicans’ loss of their congressional majority as an expression of growing public anger toward Trump. He argued that Americans themselves, including political and military analysts, members of Congress, prominent public figures, and former presidents, recognized that Trump had made a serious strategic miscalculation in confronting Iran.
“Beyond the military arena and the war itself, the fact that Trump has become so unpopular with his own people that he has completely lost the House of Representatives speaks for itself,” Boroujerdi said. “The situation in the Senate is also fragile. He has lost the majority.”
Iran Threatens U.S. Military Bases in Europe
Meanwhile, Iranian officials escalated their warnings against Washington, threatening missile strikes on American military bases in Europe if those installations are used in operations against Iran.
Bakhshayesh Ardestani, a member of the Iranian parliament’s National Security Committee, told Euronews that Tehran would consider U.S. bases in European countries, including Italy and Germany, legitimate targets if they were used to support attacks on Iranian territory.
“If the United States uses its bases in Europe, including those in Italy and Germany, Iranian missiles will be launched toward Europe,” Ardestani warned. “We did not do this in the previous two wars, but this time we will not allow European assistance to the United States in attacks against Iran to go without consequences.”
He added that Iran would target any military installation used in operations against it, as well as what he described as the material and nonmaterial assets of countries assisting the United States.
Reports: U.S. Deploying Strategic Surveillance Aircraft to the Middle East
Amid the escalating rhetoric, several media outlets reported Wednesday evening that the United States was dispatching one of its most strategically important surveillance aircraft to the Middle East.
The aircraft, an RC-135 strategic reconnaissance and intelligence platform, is designed to detect, map, and analyze enemy radar and air defense systems. According to the report, the U.S. Air Force operates only two active aircraft of this particular type.
The aircraft is capable of intercepting and identifying radar emissions from surface-to-air missile systems, naval defense networks, and aircraft. The intelligence collected can then be used to support electronic warfare operations, including the deployment of jamming systems against enemy radar and air defenses.
