IDF: Staff Sgt. Uri Greenberg, 21, of Petah Tikva, killed in combat in southern Lebanon
Golani Reconnaissance Unit soldier was killed in a close-range clash; troops killed the terrorists, and searches continue for others, the IDF says.
Greenberg, <i>hy"d</i> (Photo: IDF Spokesperson)The IDF has cleared for publication that Staff Sgt. Uri Greenberg, 21, of Petah Tikva, a soldier in the Golani Reconnaissance Unit of the Golani Brigade, was killed in action in southern Lebanon. His family has been notified.
According to initial assessments, Greenberg was killed during an encounter at close range with a terrorist cell during an operation in one of the villages in southern Lebanon. The soldiers in the force charged the terrorists and eliminated them. The IDF said searches are ongoing to locate additional terrorists.
