In a post he published today (Monday) on the social media platform Truth Social, he wrote earlier that negotiations with Iran are "going well." Trump then called on Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Pakistan to join the accords, linking the move to the possibility of signing an agreement with Iran.
Trump wrote that "this should begin with the immediate signing by Saudi Arabia and Qatar," and added a message to countries that have not yet expressed willingness to join: "Everyone else should follow their lead. If they do not do so, they should not be part of the deal, because that indicates bad intentions." According to Trump, after American efforts in the Middle East, joining the Abraham Accords should be an inseparable part of the broader diplomatic move.
Trump went on to praise the accords: "The reason is that the Abraham Accords have been excellent for them, and will be even better for everyone, and will bring real strength, power, and peace to the Middle East for the first time in 5,000 years." He added: "This will be a document that earns unmatched respect everywhere in the world. Its level of importance will be unprecedented."
Trump continued: "Therefore, I am making a binding demand that all countries immediately sign the Abraham Accords, and that if Iran signs the agreement with me, as President of the United States of America, it will be an honor to include it as well in this unprecedented global coalition."
Last night, the N12 website reported on a conference call Trump held on Shabbat with leaders of Arab states, in which he made clear that if an agreement is reached that brings the war with Iran to an end, he expects their countries to join the Abraham Accords and sign peace agreements with Israel. According to two senior American officials familiar with the details of the call, this is a move Trump sees as the next central regional goal.
Meanwhile, Iranian media outlets reported a short while ago that air defense systems were activated on Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf, under circumstances that have not yet been clarified.
