The IDF struck targets Sunday afternoon in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district, following Hezbollah rocket fire toward Israeli territory earlier in the day. An IDF spokesperson said: “Initial report: The IDF has just struck terrorist infrastructure belonging to the Hezbollah terror organization in Dahiyeh; more details to follow.”

According to a report from Lebanon, two apartments were struck by three missiles. Following the strike, Lebanese reports described heavy movement of residents evacuating the district.

The strike was carried out on the instructions of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, after Israel’s defense establishment had been monitoring developments along the northern front in recent days.

A joint statement released by the prime minister and defense minister said: “In accordance with the directive of Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz, the IDF has just struck terrorist command centers in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district, in response to Hezbollah fire toward Israeli territory.”

Four days earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that an Israeli strike in Beirut could reignite fighting in the region. According to him, any attack on Lebanon’s capital would bring “dangerous consequences.”

Israel’s Northern Command updated local authorities and councils along the confrontation line that, as of now, there has been no change in the security assessment. Student dismissal from schools is proceeding as usual, and civilian safety instructions for residents remain unchanged. Northern Command clarified that if there is any update to the assessment or a change in guidelines, an official announcement will be issued accordingly.
