IDF Investigates After Classified Military Phone Found by Syrians Across the Border
A classified military cellphone slipped from a soldier’s pocket during operations in the security zone near Syria. A Syrian civilian later found the device and shared images of it on social media. The IDF said, "The matter is under investigation."

The classified phone in the hands of a Syrian (Photo: per Section 27A)The IDF confirmed this morning (Tuesday) that a soldier lost a classified and specialized phone in the buffer zone along the Syrian border. The device, which is used by forces during combat, was later found by Syrian residents across the border. The person who found it took a photo with the cellphone and circulated the documentation on social media.
Following the loss of the device and the fact that it ended up in foreign hands, the IDF was required to change the code on many similar devices currently used by the forces. The lost device was disconnected from the network in order to prevent the finder from using it.
The assessment is that the device fell from the soldier’s pocket during military activity. The IDF said that "the incident is known and under investigation, and the event is being handled by the relevant channels."
