The IDF and Shin Bet announced this evening (Wednesday) that they had killed the terrorist Adel Jihad Mohammed Asfour, a platoon commander in Hamas’s military wing, in a strike carried out yesterday in southern Gaza.

According to the IDF statement, during the war Asfour was involved in advancing terror attacks against IDF forces, including sniper operations and the planting of explosive devices. It was also stated that in recent days he had been working to advance attacks in the immediate term, while at the same time trying to restore the operational capabilities of the Hamas terror organization.

The IDF and Shin Bet said that Asfour posed a threat to forces operating in the Gaza Strip, and was therefore killed in a targeted airstrike.
