The strike was carried out Sunday in southern Gaza as part of ongoing IDF operations in the area.
According to the IDF Spokesperson, Oweisi operated as a commercial trader who exploited his position throughout the war to smuggle weapons into Gaza. In recent weeks, he had continued his efforts to introduce additional military equipment into the Strip — materiel intended specifically to help Hamas reconstitute its military capabilities.
The IDF emphasized that Oweisi's smuggling activity persisted throughout the ceasefire period, noting that he continued operating "in order to rebuild the military wing of the Hamas terror organization, in direct violation of the ceasefire agreement." The statement further clarified that the equipment he attempted to smuggle was not designated for civilian use but was intended exclusively to serve Hamas's military requirements.
The IDF Spokesperson added: "IDF forces under Southern Command are deployed in the area in full accordance with the agreement and will continue operating to neutralize any immediate threat."
