Iran Warns Bulgaria: "Don’t Let American Planes Take Off From Your Territory"

An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson warned Bulgaria today (Tuesday) in response to reports that the U.S. has asked to station military aircraft in the Balkan country. That was reported by News 14.

According to the report, the Americans are interested in using the Bulgarian base "Bezmer" (Bezmer), located at the southern edge of Bulgaria, 1,400 kilometers from Tehran.

The Iranian spokesperson said Bulgaria must not allow the U.S. to use its territory. In his words, "Bulgaria is violating U.N. laws, and therefore Iran is entitled to attack it. Any cooperation in attacks against Iran will be considered, from the standpoint of international law, as complicity in an act of aggression and as a war crime. Granting permission for the use of a country’s territory for military action against a third country constitutes, under U.N. General Assembly Resolution 3314, a form of aggression."

It should be noted that over the past two days, the Iranians have threatened every country assisting the U.S., both in the Persian Gulf and beyond. If Iran does in fact strike in Bulgaria, it would not be the first time in the current war that it has attacked a country outside the Persian Gulf, or Israel.

During Operation "Roar of the Lion," Iran launched missiles toward Turkey. Hezbollah, acting in Iran’s service, launched drones at the British military base in Cyprus that was being used by the Americans.
