Six people, including two girls ages 5 and 12, were killed early Thursday morning when a Russian Iskander-M ballistic missile struck a private home in a village outside the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih. According to local authorities, the missile hit a home where a large family lived, killing four adults and the two girls. Eight other people were injured in the attack.

In addition, one civilian was reported killed in Russian attacks on Kyiv. About 10 people were injured. A wave of Russian airstrikes caused major damage to residential buildings and injured six people in the western city of Lviv. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi urged residents to remain in protected areas because of the ongoing danger.

Because of the Russian attack on Ukrainian cities in the western part of the country, sirens were sounded in Lublin, eastern Poland, amid fears that Russian missiles and drones could spill over the border.

The Russian attack came less than a day after the Ukrainian military struck Russian energy targets deep inside Russian territory. Among other damage, the attacks severely hit the Ryazan oil refinery, a Russian naval boat base, a radar station, and additional Russian military facilities.
