Report: Palestinian Islamic Jihad Agrees to Disarm

Saudi channel Al Arabiya reported Sunday afternoon that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization had agreed to disarm. The organization is thus joining Hamas operatives, who issued a similar announcement two days ago.

According to the report, Islamic Jihad's decision was conveyed as part of the discussions and talks between Israel and Hamas regarding the transition to Phase Two of Donald Trump's framework for ending the war in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Palestinians reported that the IDF struck the Deir al-Balah area of the Gaza Strip on Sunday afternoon. According to the reports, there were fatalities at the scene as a result of the strike. At the same time, the Gaza correspondent for the Lebanese channel Al Mayadeen reported that 12 people have been killed in Israeli strikes across the Strip since this morning.

As previously reported, U.S. President Donald Trump announced overnight Thursday into Friday that the Gaza Strip Peace Council had reached an agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all armed organizations operating in the Strip.

In a post published on Truth Social, Trump wrote: "This is a huge step toward lasting peace and security. This agreement is a critical step toward Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government, which will work closely with the Peace Council to help the Palestinian people. At the same time, Israel will receive the security it deserves, as Gaza will no longer serve as a base for terrorist attacks."

Under the agreement reached with mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, once Hamas and the other armed organizations complete their disarmament, the IDF will withdraw from the Gaza Strip, and security responsibility will be transferred to an international stabilization force that will operate alongside a new Palestinian police force.
