Relief From the Heat Is on the Way: Temperatures Begin to Drop Today

After the peak of the heat wave, Israel’s weather is expected to begin shifting gradually over the next few days. As early as today (Monday), temperatures will dip slightly, with further cooling expected later in the week, especially in the hills and inland areas. Still, despite the gradual relief, temperatures will remain hotter than usual for the season in many areas, and heavy to extreme heat stress will continue across most of the country.

Today will be warmer than usual to sweltering in the hills and inland areas, while conditions along the coast will remain humid. Alongside the slight drop in temperatures, some easing of the heat stress is also expected, though it will remain heavy to extreme throughout the country. Winds are expected to strengthen around midday, especially in the hills and inland areas.

Tomorrow (Tuesday), the cooling trend will continue. The weather will be partly cloudy to clear, becoming clear later in the day. Temperatures will fall once again, particularly in the hills and inland areas, though it will still remain warmer than usual for the season there. High humidity will continue along the coastal plain, creating muggy conditions. Despite the further drop in temperatures, heavy to extreme heat stress is still expected across most of the country.

Wednesday is also expected to bring pleasant weather, with another slight decline in temperatures, mainly in the hills and inland areas. Even so, temperatures will remain somewhat above the seasonal average. The coastal plain will continue to be humid, and heavy to extreme heat stress will continue in most parts of the country.

More significant relief will be felt only toward the end of the week. On Thursday, skies will be partly cloudy to cloudy, becoming clear to partly cloudy later in the day. Temperatures will drop again, especially in the hills and inland areas, returning to seasonal norms. At the same time, heat stress is expected to ease after several days of extreme conditions.

According to the forecast for major cities, today’s expected temperatures are: Kiryat Shmona, 38 degrees during the day and 25 at night; Tiberias, 39–25; Haifa, 32–26; Tel Aviv, 33–27; Jerusalem, 33–22; Be’er Sheva, 37–25; and Eilat will remain the hottest, with 42 degrees during the day and 32 degrees at night.
