Netanyahu: “Trump Believes Hamas Can Be Disarmed — We’re Looking Into It”
The prime minister addressed talks with the U.S. and the future of the war in Gaza. He made clear that Israel will not change its troop deployment until Hamas is disarmed, and revealed that the sides have exchanged draft proposals.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the ongoing talks surrounding the Gaza Strip and Israel’s security policy on Tuesday evening in a video posted to his official Facebook page. According to Netanyahu, Israel does not intend to change its position regarding troop deployment and the war’s objectives as long as Hamas has not been disarmed.
“I am standing firm on our security interests. We will not withdraw from our current lines until Hamas is completely disarmed,” Netanyahu said. He went on to stress that alongside diplomatic activity, the political leadership’s instructions to the IDF remain clear: “We are directing IDF soldiers to do whatever is necessary to defend themselves, our territory, and our citizens.”
The prime minister also addressed American involvement and the efforts led by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the future of the Strip. In his words, “President Trump and his team think they can disarm Hamas and demilitarize Gaza — we’re looking into it.”
Netanyahu revealed that draft proposals are being exchanged between Jerusalem and Washington as part of the discussions: “They sent us a draft, we did not agree to it, and we sent our comments,” he said, without detailing the content of the reservations or the changes Israel requested to the document.
