The IDF Spokesperson said Monday afternoon that earlier today, during searches by an IDF Golani Reconnaissance Unit force in the Beaufort area of southern Lebanon, a Hezbollah operative inside a building opened fire on the troops.

During the encounter, two IDF soldiers were lightly wounded and evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment. Their families have been notified.

Shortly afterward, the forces fired shells at the location where the operative was hiding and killed him. In addition, the IDF struck weapons depots, command centers, and other Hezbollah terror infrastructure in the area.

The IDF Spokesperson said: "The IDF will not allow the Hezbollah terrorist organization to harm the citizens of the State of Israel or its forces, and will continue operating to remove threats while remaining committed to the ceasefire agreement."
