Life Sentence for Terrorist Convicted of Killing IDF Soldier Amit Ben Yigal, of Blessed Memory
A military court convicted Nadmi Abu Bakr of intentionally causing death after he threw a brick from a rooftop, killing the soldier during an operational activity in Ya'bad in 2020. The terrorist will compensate the soldier's family with more than 4 million shekels.
Amit Ben Yigal, of blessed memory (used under Section 27A)The military court in Samaria today (Thursday) sentenced terrorist Nadmi Abu Bakr to life in prison. He was convicted last May of intentionally causing death, the equivalent of murder offenses in Judea and Samaria, for deliberately causing the death of Staff Sergeant Amit Ben Yigal, of blessed memory. The terrorist was also convicted of obstructing judicial proceedings.
The attack took place on May 12, 2020, during an operational activity by a Golani Reconnaissance Unit force in the village of Ya'bad to arrest wanted suspects. The terrorist threw a half-brick weighing between nine and 11 kilograms from the roof of a building at IDF soldiers, intending to kill them.
The brick thrown by the terrorist struck Staff Sergeant Amit Ben Yigal and caused his death. The terrorist then fled from the roof to his home and pretended to be asleep in an effort to prevent security forces from locating him. After the forces left the area, he returned, collected pieces of the brick from the impact site, and threw them to the side of the path in an effort to obstruct the investigation. He was later arrested based on intelligence information.
The military court ordered the terrorist to pay financial compensation of more than 4 million shekels to the soldier's family.
