Houthis Strike Military Base in Yemen: Dozens Reported Killed
A Houthi ballistic missile hit a training camp belonging to Yemeni government forces in Shabwa province. Tensions with Saudi Arabia keep escalating, raising fears of a wider war in the region.

About 30 soldiers of the Free Yemen army were killed today (Monday) in a Houthi attack. The strike targeted the base in Shabwa province in southern Yemen. At least 24 more fighters were wounded.
Military officials in the Yemeni government told the AP news agency that the Houthis fired a ballistic missile at a military training camp while forces identified with the Yemeni government were training there.
As reported, on Friday two Houthi missiles struck the airport in Aden, the temporary capital of Free Yemen, and five people were killed in launches aimed at the presidential palace compound in the city.
At the same time, the Houthi terror organization is waging a campaign against Saudi Arabia. Last night, six people were wounded when a Houthi launch hit a residential area in the city of Najran in the south of the kingdom. In Riyadh, employees of the Kingdom Centre office tower were instructed to work from home following a security alert and the interception of drones.
Meanwhile, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi announced today that his country would act to defend Saudi Arabia if asked to do so. “It is inconceivable that we would allow harm to Saudi Arabia, to its security or to its stability,” el-Sisi said, and he asked the Egyptian parliament to convene an emergency session to approve the move.
At the same time, security warnings were reportedly issued to American citizens through US embassies and missions in the following countries: Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Yemen. This comes out of concern that the war between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia will ignite a wider war in the Middle East.
