Five East Jerusalem residents were arrested by the Shin Bet and police. Authorities say they were directed by Salah Hamouri, a senior figure in the Popular Front. Hamouri was also involved, among other things, in the 2005 attempted assassination of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.

At the direction of Defense Minister ישראל כ"ץ, the head of Central Command signed an amendment to the order allowing the death penalty law for terrorists to be applied in the West Bank. The law applies to terrorists who, God forbid, murder Israelis and are captured alive.

Acting on Shin Bet intelligence, Israeli Border Police and Central District officers arrested two Palestinians in Tel Mond who were in Israel illegally. One is suspected of plotting an attack in the near future; a second detainee is being checked for terror ties.
