A woman about 30 years old was killed this evening (Tuesday) by a direct rocket hit at the Machanaim Junction in the Upper Galilee. Two other people were lightly wounded. The deadly rocket was fired from southern Lebanon by Hezbollah.
According to security officials, about 40 rockets were launched in a barrage toward the Galilee Panhandle, as well as some frontline communities and the Safed area. Following the strike at the Mahanaim Junction, MDA teams were dispatched and began treating a woman in critical condition. During treatment, the medics were forced to pronounce her dead. Two other lightly injured people were evacuated to Ziv Hospital in Safed.
MDA paramedic Oren Naaman said: "We arrived at a tough scene. In a ditch by the roadside, we found an unconscious woman with severe shrapnel wounds and multi-system trauma. We carried out medical checks; she had no signs of life, and we had to pronounce her dead at the scene. A man in his 20s walked toward us with a shrapnel injury to his head. He said that when he pulled over during the siren, a missile fell nearby and he was wounded by shrapnel. We provided medical care and evacuated him to the hospital in mild condition".
While the casualties were being evacuated, sirens sounded across the Golan and the Upper Galilee following a launch from Iran. There were reports of falling munitions fragments in one of the communities. MDA reported that two people with light glass-shard injuries were treated and did not require evacuation to the hospital.
Ziv Medical Center said, "Six casualties from the strike in Safed and two additional casualties from the scene at Mahanaim were brought to the trauma room at Ziv Medical Center. All of the injured are conscious, their condition is stable, and they are being treated by the emergency medicine department staff".
In the south, Soroka Medical Center's spokesperson updated that following the fall of the Iranian cluster munition in the Nevatim area earlier today, 20 casualties arrived at the hospital. The condition of a man in his 30s, a member of the hospital staff, is defined as moderate. The condition of a woman and an infant is mild, and the rest were treated for anxiety.
