Iranian Missile Toward Beirut Reportedly Intercepted; IDF Says It Destroyed Launcher Ready to Fire

Lebanese reports say a 'foreign ship' intercepted a ballistic missile aimed at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut. The Israeli Air Force says it struck in western Iran, destroying a loaded launcher prepared to fire at Israel; the IDF and Shin Bet say they also killed a 'Quds Force' operative near Beirut.

The Israeli Air Force today (Tuesday) destroyed, and put out of operation, an Iranian ballistic missile launcher that was loaded and ready to fire toward the State of Israel. According to the IDF Spokesperson, the operation was carried out as part of a broad strike sortie in western Iran.

In addition, the IDF Spokesperson updated this evening that the Air Force yesterday struck storage and launch sites for ballistic missiles prepared to be fired toward the State of Israel, including dozens of soldiers from the ballistic missile array.

In Lebanon, the IDF and the Shin Bet eliminated a terrorist from the \"Quds Force\" who had been advancing terror plans under Iranian direction. The elimination was carried out yesterday in the Beirut area by the Navy, guided by Shin Bet intelligence. The terrorist who was eliminated is Mohammad Ali Qurani.

The IDF Spokesperson added that \"<\/span>Iranian intelligence elements continue to operate and advance terror plans by activating terrorists from within Lebanon.<\/span>The IDF and the Shin Bet will continue to thwart Iranian terror activity in Lebanon and remove any threat to the citizens of the State of Israel\".

Meanwhile, the IDF noted that \"<\/span>after examination and based on the data in the IDF's possession, in parallel to the launches carried out toward the State of Israel earlier today, a ballistic missile launched by the Iranian terror regime fell in Beirut\". According to a report in Lebanon, the missile was intercepted in the country's airspace by a foreign ship. In Lebanon, it was stated that \"the target of the intercepted Iranian missile was the U.S. Embassy in Beirut\".
