The IDF continues its operations in southern Lebanon amid ongoing Hezbollah violations. Today (Wednesday), the IDF Spokesperson released footage from a 401st Brigade tank showing the elimination of a Hezbollah operative identified during a combat mission.
According to the IDF, the 401st Brigade combat team, operating under Division 146, continues to operate south of the forward defense line with the goal of striking Hezbollah terror infrastructure and removing threats to Israeli civilians. During one of the operations, the forces identified a terrorist using observation equipment to track troops in the field. The IDF said that "in a rapid close of the loop, the terrorist was eliminated by tank fire."
Meanwhile, the Air Force intercepted a suspicious aerial target detected in the area where IDF forces are operating in southern Lebanon. The IDF clarified that "no alerts were activated in line with policy."
The operational activity is taking place against the backdrop of ongoing security tensions, despite the ceasefire. The defense establishment notes that Hezbollah violations continue on a regular basis. In light of this, the IDF is carrying out preparations on the ground to enable a possible expansion of the ground operation, if and when a political decision is made.
As part of these preparations, actions are also being carried out in areas where the IDF does not maintain a permanent presence but that fall within the Yellow Line. According to the military's planning, these moves are intended to create operational readiness for a scenario in which the fighting in the sector expands.
As of now, three IDF divisions are operating in Lebanon. In parallel with the military moves, the diplomatic track is also continuing, with a third round of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon expected to take place in Washington on Thursday.
