According to the IDF, the operation is focused on gaining control of the Beaufort Ridge and the Saluki River area, alongside destroying Hezbollah terror infrastructure built there under Iranian direction. As part of the activity, forces from the 36th Division crossed the Litani River and are also operating in areas north of it, with support from the Air Force, tanks, and artillery.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Israel Katz said today at the memorial ceremony for the fallen of the Lebanon War, "Twenty-six years after the withdrawal from the security zone in Lebanon, the Israeli flag is once again flying over the peaks overlooking the Galilee communities. Our heroic fighters have captured the Beaufort once again — and will remain there as part of the security zone in Lebanon. We are operating against thousands of homes and terror infrastructure sites in the Lebanese border villages, based on one clear principle: a jihadist enemy understands only one language — taking territory and destroying homes."
The IDF spokesperson also said that following the alerts activated at 10:49 a.m. in Zar'it in the western Galilee, the Air Force intercepted two launches that crossed from Lebanese territory toward Israel. No injuries or damage were reported.
