Iran Fires Missiles as U.S. Strikes Iraq: ‘Ready for Full-Scale War’

The relative calm that had characterized the region in recent days was shattered today (Wednesday). U.S. Central Command announced that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fired several ballistic missiles from Iran toward Jordan. The target: American forces stationed there. All Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted. Following the attack, U.S. officials said: “They will pay for this.”

At the same time, the U.S. military and Saudi forces struck logistical sites belonging to pro-Iranian militias in Iraq overnight. According to the announcements, the cells had been directed by the Revolutionary Guards to attack American forces and Saudi energy infrastructure. The militias in Iraq reported eight dead. It is believed that the militias were responsible for launching the drones intercepted in recent days by the IDF along Israel’s eastern border.

Before the strikes in Iraq, Saudi Arabia announced that its air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed several unmanned aircraft that attempted to strike oil facilities in the country’s Eastern Province.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Marandi, who is close to the Iranian negotiating team, tweeted on his Twitter account: “Iran is fully ready for war on a full scale.” The Revolutionary Guards reported that they attacked three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz after, they said, the vessels ignored warnings.

The New York Times reported that Iran had considered attacking a port in Ukraine with a ballistic missile carrying a small warhead, as a symbolic message following the Ukrainian attack on an Iranian ship in the Caspian Sea. At the same time, it was reported that Iran is expected to receive its first shipment of hundreds of shoulder-fired air-defense missiles from China in the coming weeks.
