The IDF Spokesperson announced Sunday morning that the 401 Brigade Combat Team, which operated under the command of the 91st Division, has completed its mission in southern Lebanon after eight months of operational activity.

During that time, according to the IDF, the forces operated at various terror sites across southern Lebanon, destroying more than 1,200 Hezbollah terror infrastructure sites. Among other things, they destroyed underground routes with a combined length of hundreds of meters, in an operation carried out in cooperation with fighters from the Yahalom unit.

In addition to striking the infrastructure, the forces located more than 600 weapons throughout the area in which they operated. Over the past several months, more than 60 Hezbollah terrorists were killed as part of the operational effort to remove threats to the forces and to communities in northern Israel.

The IDF said the activity focused both on defensive missions along the border line and on proactive offensive operations within the security zone in southern Lebanon, aimed at preventing the terror organization from reestablishing operational capabilities near the Israeli border.

At the conclusion of the mission, the brigade combat team held a combat completion ceremony, where the commander of the 401st Brigade, Col. Yoav Schneider, addressed the significance of the operation and the heavy price paid by the fighters during the combat.

In his words, "The purpose is to prevent and push back the threat to Israel's citizens. That is the purpose we repeated morning and evening." He added that "the brigade's achievements in Lebanon came at a heavy price, both among the brigade's fighters and the brigade combat team."

The brigade commander also addressed those who fell during the operation: "We will always remember the brigade's fallen, and they will always remain in our hearts. With the fall of every soldier, we grieve and bow our heads, but at the same moment we regroup, assess the situation, and look ahead to completing the mission, to ensure that their loss will not be in vain."
