Trump Warns Iran: “If They Act Against the U.S., They’ll Be Bombed to Hell”

U.S. President Donald Trump spoke with reporters overnight, between Tuesday and Wednesday, and addressed the situation with Iran. “I don’t trust Iran,” he began. “They lied to me nonstop,” he added. Addressing Iran’s refusal to open the Strait of Hormuz to free passage, the American president said: “The U.S. military controls the area, not the Iranians.”

During the briefing with reporters, Trump addressed threats against his life and the possibility that Iran could attack American forces: “At some point, Iran may do something, and they’ll be bombed to hell.”

Alongside Trump’s remarks, Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian parliament, told the official IRNA news agency that a new bill concerning the Strait of Hormuz is being advanced in Iran. Under the proposal, military and commercial vessels from countries defined by Tehran as “hostile” would not be permitted to enter the Arabian Gulf without Iranian approval.

Azizi added that if the proposal is approved, the law would require every military or commercial vessel from a “hostile” country to receive permission from Iran before entering the Arabian Gulf. He noted that the regulations have already been prepared as part of the proposed legislation. He further said that the move is intended to strengthen Tehran’s authority and control over the Strait of Hormuz.

As a reminder, yesterday the Iranians stressed that the strait would be opened only after the United States withdraws from the region and ends the naval blockade it imposed on Iranian seaports.
