Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the Mount Hermon Summit in Syria today (Wednesday), together with Defense Minister Israel Katz and Deputy Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Tamir Yadai. During the visit, Netanyahu declared that Israel would not allow a “terror army” to establish itself along its border, stressing that the central objective still remaining, in his words, is defeating the regime in Iran.
During the visit, the prime minister arrived at an IDF outpost overlooking Syria, where he received an operational briefing on activity in the sector from Northern Command chief Maj. Gen. Rafi Milo and Brig. Gen. Yair Palai, commander of Division 210.
Netanyahu said: “On the eve of Rosh Hashanah, we are at the summit of Mount Hermon. Damascus is here, Lebanon is there, the Syrian Golan Heights are there, and we control the entire area from the Mount Hermon Summit to the Yarmouk, and from here to the Mediterranean Sea, complete control unlike anything we have had before.”
The prime minister added: “We will not allow any terror army to establish itself on our border, and that is one of the tremendous achievements we have made in the War of Revival.”
Later in his remarks, Netanyahu directed his message toward Iran and presented defeating the regime in Tehran as the main task that remains. “And from these heights, there is still work to do; the main task is to defeat the terrorist regime in Iran. We are very close to it. We know that the entire axis will finally fall. We are committed to doing this, and we will do it.”
