IDF Strikes in Gaza City, Killing Two Hamas Weapons Developers

The IDF earlier today (Sunday) killed two operatives in the engineering network of Hamas’s military wing in a strike carried out in the Gaza City area. According to an IDF Spokesperson’s statement, the two were Mahmoud Hassan Ali Abu Nada and Abd al-Rahim Ahmad Khalil Khawar.

The IDF said that in recent months, the two had been involved in manufacturing and developing weapons for Hamas, while also working to advance terror plans against IDF forces and Israeli civilians. It was further stated that the two were involved in efforts to rebuild the organization’s capabilities.

According to the statement, the two carried out their activities in repeated violation of the ceasefire, and due to the threat they posed, a decision was made to act against them. The IDF stressed that "the terrorists were eliminated to remove the threat."

Before the strike was carried out, the IDF said it took a series of measures intended to minimize, as much as possible, the risk of harm to civilians in the area. These included the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance, intended to help carry out a targeted strike.

The IDF added that Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement. The military made clear that operations against threats posed by Hamas will continue, and said it will keep acting to remove every immediate threat.
