Iran: “We Sent Washington Our Terms to End the War, Now We’re Waiting for Trump”
The terms include an end to fighting on all fronts, the release of frozen funds, and the lifting of the naval blockade. U.S. officials say the blockade of Iran’s ports is severely damaging its oil exports.
Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said today (Shabbat) in an interview with Al Jazeera that his country had sent the United States a proposal to end the war. Rezaei said: “We are in contact with Qatar, which conveyed our terms for stopping the war to Washington, and we are waiting for a response from President Trump.”
According to him, “Our terms are an end to the war on all fronts, the release of our frozen funds, and the lifting of the naval blockade.”
In addition, the secretary of Iran’s National Security Council said that “the actions of the United States and Israel give us grounds to withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Such a decision has not yet been made. If we are attacked, we will strike American bases and Washington’s interests in the region with greater force.”
Meanwhile, Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), claimed in a statement that the military helped transport more than 1 billion barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz in recent months, aboard more than 2,000 tankers and ships. He also said that Iran had failed to export even a single barrel of oil, thanks to the U.S. military’s blockade of its ports and vessels.
