Karim Khan plans to challenge the unprecedented decision, while the arrest warrants against Israeli leaders remain in force

President Donald Trump responded to statements by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who said he would work to have Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrested. Mamdani said he intends to pursue an arrest warrant ahead of Netanyahu’s expected arrival in September for the U.N. conference.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he is considering whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could be arrested if he comes to the city for the U.N. General Assembly in September, calling him “a war criminal committing genocide in Gaza.”

A request has been filed with the International Criminal Court in The Hague seeking the arrest of Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich. The prosecution alleges his involvement in offenses against the Palestinian population in Judea and Samaria. Similar requests may also be filed against ministers Itamar Ben Gvir and ישראל כ"ץ.

According to a report in "Haaretz," the International Criminal Court has expanded its actions against Israel and issued secret arrest warrants for three politicians and two senior military officials. The identities of the officials have not been disclosed, but the international implications could be dramatic.
