Trump: "Complete and Total Support for Benjamin Netanyahu"
The US president released a written statement backing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's reelection bid. Trump: "This is the kind of partner that the United States demands from Israel, a country it has done so much for."
(Archive photo: Maayan Toaf, GPO)A week after telling reporters that he would not get involved in Israel's elections, US President Donald Trump released a written statement this evening (Sunday) expressing support for the reelection of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The American president wrote: "To the Great People of Israel. Benjamin Netanyahu has been a great wartime Prime Minister, and an even greater partner for peace in the fight against the Islamic Republic of Iran, with its 51-year-old chant: 'Death to Israel, Death to America! We will destroy the little Satan and the big Satan.'"
"What country can survive when statements like these are allowed to be made, because in the end, they always come true? It was only a matter of time until Iran carried out this threatening slogan. However, it has been systematically destroyed, both militarily and economically, and if it does not quickly change its ways, we will soon finish the job."
"If Israel has the wrong leader, meaning anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this work itself, and I have no inclination to do so. Benjamin Netanyahu has been strong, brave, and brilliant in the face of tremendous opposition, including opposition that came even from within Israel itself. Despite all of this, he held on, and in fact he even thrived! I watched Bibi during the most difficult times. Ordinary men and women would have collapsed under the pressure in such situations, but Bibi did not collapse. In fact, he only grew stronger, and he maintains that same strength today as well."
"This is the kind of partner that the United States of America demands from Israel, a country it has done so much for. Please consider this letter an expression of my complete and total support for Benjamin Netanyahu in his upcoming race for reelection as Prime Minister of Israel. Bibi Netanyahu will never let you down! Thank you for your attention to this matter. Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America."
Netanyahu thanked Trump and wrote in a post on X: "Thank you, President Trump, for the tremendous support and the joint work. Together we will finish the job!"
