Lahav 433

Contractor and businessman Dudi Appel, former Knesset member and attorney Michael Kleiner, and businesspeople Yaffe and Yitzhak Dayan were detained for questioning by Lahav 433 as part of an economic investigation. Police suspect the four were involved in concealing rights to real estate and hiding assets worth millions of shekels.

Israel Avishar, who served as head of the Firearms Licensing Division in Israel’s Ministry of National Security, has been notified by the State Attorney’s Office economic department that it has decided to prosecute him, pending a hearing. The alleged offenses: fraud and breach of trust. Authorities claim Avishar allowed people who were not legally authorized to issue gun permits to tens of thousands of citizens.

Israel’s Police Internal Investigations Department says it questioned an officer serving in Lahav 433 on suspicion of maintaining contact with an Iranian intelligence agent. He was released under restrictive conditions.

Prosecutors say Mondar Badir, 48, tried to smuggle thousands of kilos of cigarettes and tobacco—plus generators, SIM cards, phones, and more—into Gaza, allegedly for major profit.
