Trump's Iran deal has left Israel's supporters searching for political explanations. The Jewish tradition suggests a deeper possibility: that the decisions of rulers, however perplexing, are never entirely their own.

President Donald Trump, currently in France, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in Tehran, signed the memorandum of understanding overnight. Iran quickly stressed that control of the Strait of Hormuz will pass into its hands, and that Israeli ships will not be allowed to pass through it.

Now that the deal has officially been signed, the text and both sides’ statements are confirming Israel’s core security concerns

Arab media reported that the memorandum of understanding signed between the U.S. and Iran includes a full Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon. U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance pushed back against critics of the deal: "We achieved the goals President Trump set."
