Sgt. First Class (res.) Alexander Filin, 29, of Haifa, a soldier in the 36th Division headquarters, was killed in combat in southern Lebanon. Seven additional soldiers were wounded, from light to moderate, including the division’s deputy commander. The force was hit by an explosive device detonated by Hezbollah terrorists during IDF operations in the Litani area. In a separate incident, five soldiers were wounded.

The IDF said it killed in the Gaza Strip Muawiya Suleiman Zakar Aidi, a platoon commander in Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Aidi entered Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7, 2023. The Israeli Air Force intercepted several rockets launched at IDF forces in southern Lebanon and struck the launcher used in the attack. Separately, a suspicious vehicle identified in the area of operations was targeted after troops first fired warning shots.

David Yaari, whose son Ehud HY"D was killed last week in southern Lebanon by a bullet accidentally discharged by a fellow soldier during an operational mission, has asked the IDF to release the soldier from detention. The grieving father said, "The army should absolutely learn operational lessons, but not through a punitive process."

The IDF has cleared for publication footage from Hezbollah’s underground infrastructure in southern Lebanon, which it says was built with Iranian funding. Large quantities of weapons were found in the tunnel network. Operatives hiding there were killed after trying to escape.

Fourteen members of Knesset voted in favor, with no opposition, as the plenum approved a bill to limit attorneys’ fees. The law is meant to protect those eligible through the Rehabilitation Department and the National Insurance Institute from excessive legal charges.

A shooting attack at a gas station near Kochav Yair set off a major security response across three locations in the Sharon area. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and four others were taken to hospitals with serious and moderate injuries. The "ceasefire" in the north continues: four IDF reservists were moderately wounded after an explosive drone struck in southern Lebanon. At the same time, alerts were activated in Metula and Misgav Am. Metula Local Council head David Azoulay blasted the situation: "Even this morning, Metula’s children and parents went out to schools under nonstop fire."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Thursday night that Brig. Gen. Guy Markizano will become his military secretary, stepping into the role immediately.

A Hezbollah explosive drone struck the vehicle of Maj. Gen. Rafi Milo, head of the IDF’s Northern Command, during a visit to southern Lebanon. The incident ended without injuries. In response, movement and security procedures in the area were changed.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir held a joint situational assessment with northern local council heads and the General Staff at Northern Command. He stressed the ongoing military effort against Hezbollah: "We have a shared goal — protecting the residents and communities of the north and restoring calm and security over time."

After the United States announced a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, Israel’s political system responded fast. Defense Minister ישראל כ"ץ praised what he called a major diplomatic achievement and even raised the possibility of a future peace deal, while National Security Minister איתמר בן גביר warned that Hezbollah would only grow stronger.
